Current In-Progress Builds: Hasegawa P-47 & F-104C

Post by jelliott523 »

Here are a couple of the builds I've been working on lately. I haven't had a lot of time at the bench much, but I'm trying to get back at it. Both of these are 1/48. Both builds are OOB, except for the seatbelts I used in the P-47, which I used lead wire flattened and trimmed and painted. I'll take a pic of those when I pull the tape off the top when I get ready to add the canopy.
The paint on the F-104 is primed with Gunze GX-2 Gloss Black and the NMF is K Kolors Aluminum. The engine area NMF is MRP dark aluminum and duraluminum.
The P-47 was primed with GX-2 and sprayed with Gaia Notes Aluminum and a couple of spots of MRP Matte Aluminum on the wings. The yellow cowl stripes on the nose were masked and painted instead of using the kit decal stripes. The tail and invasion stripes were painted MRP Gloss Black with MRP Insignia White stripes. I chose to paint these instead of trying to match up multiple decals.

Thanks guys! Sorry for the fuzzy quality of the pictures. It was a last minute thing to grab a couple of shots last night before I stepped away. I'll get some better ones posted soon.

Great looking NMF on them
March as one, Don't look back
Odin's sons... Attack!
Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament
Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall

I think I'm in love with that Starfighter (I'll seek help :bag: ) - that's bloody amazing!!!

The P-47 is awesome also - superb finish!

Two very nice NMF subjects. Although I can't think of two more contrasting aircraft! One's super sleek and the other is need of a diet. But of the two, I like the Jug better! Looks ain't everything!

Thanks all! Much appreciated. I love the looks of NMF, they still aren't 100% perfect, but will do. As I'm sure you all know, you cant hide surface mistakes on NMF builds, they are a challenge to make sure all seams are perfect and any little blemish will be magnified. I used to use Alclad II for NMF, but found it was very fragile and it was almost impossible to not leave a fingerprint. K Kolors metal colors and a combination of MRP Metals and AK Xtreme Metal seem to be very durable paints. The Gaia Notes paint is good too, its a little pricey though and doesn't come in as many :quotes: flavors.

I have used their black and silver and I have to tell you that these are amazing; worth every dollar and made in the U.S.A. Thanks for the review of Gaianotes! I have been eyeballing their metallics for awhile now.
