Looking good Stuart! And yes, the other side of new tool kits is usually higher parts count and more intricate builds are part of all that nicer detail.

You're right there Carlos, and this one is very intricate - it's not a bad thing by any stretch, it's just a bit of a chore. Thankfully asides form the nose and the intakes, exhaust, the fit is the best I've ever seen from Airfix. Now I've got everything together I'm really enjoying it and I'll certainly be buying the RAF version when it's released later in the year.

That's cool Mark, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Just make sure you watch the fit when the nose halves go together and you should avoid the fit issue when it all fits to the fuselage.

Still waiting for that new tool one in 1/48.

lol that would be good but I suspect you'll have a long wait! The old 1/48 isn't too bad from what I've heard other once you get past the fit of the fuselage!

Some more progress made, I've painted up the crew and sealed up the cockpit. The closed airbrake has also been fitted.

The Bucanneer is looking good! Great to see a new Airfix kit being built. I, for one, have not built any Airfix kits. Wait... I take that back... I think the Spitfire 22/24 that I did was an Airfix mold.

That Spitfire is supposed to be a nice kit from what I hear.

Thanks John, this is an Airfix kit like no other that I've built before, very impressive fit and Engineering. It's not a Tamiya, but they have really upper their game. I also think they've nailed the look of the Buccaneer well.

Making some good progress on this - all the major parts are now assembled on the fuselage and wings and I've started painting up the undercarriage.

What was interesting when looking at the fitting of the Martels, is that the outer wing panels have a second set of half drilled holes outboard of the outer pylons not mentioned in the instructions. These are in the correct position for the missile pylons and would say to me that the RAF kit due out later in the year will have the option of Sea Eagles (Airifx already make a nice Sea Eagle for their Sea Harrier kits).



Really starting to like this kit now it's coming together - the fit of all the little parts is just awesome.

Well the u/c is on as is the first coat of paint - it looks a bit untidy now but should improve after a few more. I'm not very happy with the silver and need to find something brighter.
