Grumman TBM-3 Avenger, 1/48, Acc. Min.
Re: Grumman TBM-3 Avenger, 1/48, Acc. Min.
Looking good Lyle. I'm on the fence about stencils. On my F4 I didnt do all the wing stencils. I did them last time and I found it distracting and not scale.
Thanks,
John

Thanks. The stencils are simply unusable in this case. I tend to not use then much anyway. I afree with you.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

They are really fun on Cold War era USAF Jets.... the stencils on those can be more numerous than parts on the basic kit...

Like Keavdog said, F-4's seem to be the worst offenders when it comes to stencils. Heck, look at any modern Japanese aircraft.Stikpusher wrote:They are really fun on Cold War era USAF Jets.... the stencils on those can be more numerous than parts on the basic kit...

And the thing is when you look at a picture of an F4 you don't focus on or maybe even notice the stencils. On my previous F4J it's all you would see - ants on the wing...lol (old fuzzy pic from my old house)

Exactly my point - it's accurate for sure but distracting and not scale. Could just be me.
Thanks,
