Until the mid 70’s or so they went with Insignia Yellow for all the ground equipment, then the USAF switched to a dark bronze green. I guess they decided that yellow was too good of a visual aiming point for the Warsaw Pact tactical aircraft that were supposed to hit airfields.

I'm not usually an egg-plane guy but actually I really like those two, the Osprey in particular looks really cool.
