Grumman J2F-2A Duck

Post by LyleW »

There for a while, i was after the Grumman amphibs. Have the Goose, Duck, and Albatros. If only one could get a Mallard.....

This is a Glencoe kit. Not horrible, but not great. Scale? who knows. Box lists it as "Approximately 1/48".

Interesting! I've wanted a Duck but probably not that kit.

I just discovered that Glencoe is still around. Have a web page and all that. They just re-released this kit with new decals. Fair amount of flash- along mould joins, etc. Basic no detail cockpit. However, I'm quite happy with that.

I really like the duck. I tried this kit way back but never got through it and I have no idea what happened to it. Glencoe have some really interesting kits.
Thanks,
John

This may meet the hammer when trying to get the upper wing attached. That Step and me have not Played well together... we shall see.

Glencoe kits remind me of a particular type of female... As long as your standards are not too high, you’ll have plenty of fun with them. They are old molds obtained by the company, most from the late 50’s or early 60’s, cleaned up just enough to be workable, and given a top class new decal sheet. I have several of their WWI biplane kits in my stash and have built one so far. With some extra effort, they can look pretty good.
Dont overthink it, just build.

Humbrol rattle can paint? Where did you find that?
