Thanks guys! It’s better than what came in the box. All those F-35s flying over every day are taunting me to finish this...

Nice work on the cockpit, Carlos! I wish WW2 planes had as interesting interior colors that this jet does. Hard to get excited over the drab greys and greens that I'm always working on.

John, there are some unusual colors on a few WWII era cockpits. Kawasaki used a unique one on their fighters (hint hint).
Stuart, I still have a bit more to do on those screens. Hope you like how those turn out.

I like that cockpit! That’s very nice-looking. I’ve been staring at RLM 02 and that dark gray for weeks on end seems like, and so it was great to open this thread and see a striking cockpit with nice color! I like that red, and the green in the IP is great. Solid work.

Thanks! Modern cockpits can go either way. Some of them get pretty drab as well. Just with more gray than the WWII shades.

Well, I started getting back to work on this over the past few weeks, and now I have enough photos worth posting.
First up, I modified the exhaust nozzle to backdate it to match the X-35. The kit part had the angled end and faceted nozzle petals of the F-35. I had to sand off those angle facets and ends to match the earlier design
Then I added some fine mesh into the inner surface of the engine to match the grill like texture of the area between the flame holder and the afterburner nozzle
and lastly I started painting based on photos I found at F16.net and gluing parts in place
Nearly all of that will not be visible once the fuselage halves are glued together.
