To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

That's a really awesome figure Bruce

Thanks, gents! There’s also a surprise bonus from Marc at Immense Figures I am going to show you in a bit.
Tonight my last package arrived. For those keeping score: package 1: paint, package 2: figure, package 3: decals and glue. All a growing model builder needs to complete any project. Here is a comparison of the kit instrument panel decal sheet vs the Airscale WWI sheet:

Those instrument decals look sharp!

Agreed! I’m gonna cobble together a new IP for this model; and I’ll have decals leftover just in case the Wingnut Wings kits will need spares. I’m still debating to add cockpit interior wall ribs the way Lyle did. I guess so. I’m in two minds about this. At least I have pretty much all I need to begin building. I think I will use Humbrol enamels to paint the figure.

Airscale makes great gauge decals. Would also like to see more of this figure.

I love those Airscale decals. They make modern aircraft ones too that I want to get.
