My man! Thank you!

Today I broke-out the oil paints and got that oil stain and spotting on this piece here how I wanted it- yeah, it’s definitely looking like it was sitting there under an engine that leaked a little oil on it at one point;

... and speaking of the engine, I began construction on the Daimler-Benz, and started with the ignition wiring:

... that’s all for this weekend. Moving back to markings on Pips’ Emil first thing in the morning. I want to have that done but close of business tomorrow because I cannot wait to get at it with the washes and filters and the silver Prismacolor pencil.

Looks great, Kenny! I had to do a double take on those pics... I thought I was looking at some real metal hardware!

Thank you Stuart and John!

Today I began the main work on the engine and gun deck for Marga. Here’s some shots:

Maybe I could’ve gone a gauge or two bigger on the wiring, but at the same time, I like the subtlety of it. And I can always dry-brush a lighter shade of gray on it.

I left the top of the engine bare metal as I have seen photos of this old engine, and sometimes one pops up with a bare metal top when I’m researching. I thought a base of matte black with a sheen of Model Master Steel dry-brushes onto it would look fetching, and be more interesting. I like how that bit came out a lot.

I also did some dry-brushing around the corners and stuff, and will let that sit and rest, and I’ll add more tomorrow if the mood strikes me. Guns with be painted and installed probably tomorrow, as well.

Thank you again guys. Stuart, I appreciate the good word on Pips’ Emil. Thank you, and John, I appreciate your thoughts as well. One goal of mine was to do the best I possibly can at making this look like an actual machine. Probably bit off more than I can chew in that regard, but it’s been a lot of fun to noodle this and try new things like oil paint stains and stuff.

Thank you! A lot of this is new to me, so if you want, I can document it better if that’ll help :-) Shoot, I know it’d help me, I have trouble remembering what I did from one day to the next HAHAHAA
