IIRC the US Army either is or is looking into this aircraft.

The US Army has replaced Blackhawks with these in some Guard units. The Blackhawks were reassigned to other units and the Lakotas are non combat deployable, and are for stateside use only. So if those units get called up to go downrange, they have to trade in their Lakotas for a combat capable chopper, train up on them, and then go to war. Somebody didn’t quite think that one thru all the way.

That's bonkers - I wonder how many hours you'd have to fly on type to be combat ready?

That all depends upon the urgency of the situation.... the US military has a habit of cutting requirements when times get tough and manpower short.

I bet - although I would imagine that's pretty common. I've just finished reading Harrier 809 - after it all kicked off down south, the FAA put together a third Sea Harrier squadron from scratch in three weeks. Some of the RAF guys drafted in had never even sat in the SHAR or used it's radar!
