Small update, I got the glass masked along with the open cockpit and gearbay. First the glass got sprayed Tamiya German Grey, then sprayed a coat of Alclad II Grey primer.
Nothing like primer to show all the bad spots that still need attention.

Dude, the leading wing edges reminded of something funny... Kenny The Drunk played a practical joke on Newly Sober Kenny by neglecting to address Black 1’s leading wing edges! I had to pause painting to fill and sand them HAHAHAHAAA!!! It went fine. I used Mr. Surfacer 500 for that job. Man. I love that stuff. But yeah, what a surprise that was! Man oh man.

Anyway, you’re on top of those details and good on ya for that! Can’t wait to see paint on this bird soon!

This is gonna look great Clint. A neat little trick I learned while working with auto build smooth finishes is while I'm doing any body work/ smoothing out seams and all that stuff a good quick check before priming is to take an alcohol wipe (you know the little squares) and wipe the bare plastic in the area of the body work. Nine times out of ten any problem areas will show up in the temporary wet gloss that the alcohol wipe leaves behind and WALAH....I can take care of alot of problem areas before I even put primer on the model. Just a friendly and hopefully helpful bit of advice that I've learned along the way.

I used this trick when filling in the hood opening here on my 41 Willy's. This is after gluing in some black styrene, filling in the seams with super glue and sanding down using the alcohol pad technique. It lets you see the imperfections before adding layer after layer of primer then paint.

That is one beautiful looking hood had to be a heck of a lot of work too.

Kenny I've had things like that where I would get preoccupied on something else and forget about something simple to only have to stop and address it later.

Went to start painting today by spraying a preshade of Tamiya Nato Black and kept fighting with my airbrush. It started out going well but then was not able to hold a consistent spray pattern. I cleaned the airbrush and started again. After a few minutes the same problem again. I stumbled through the preshade since it don't have to be 100% neat. I've ordered a new nozzle and needle since I haven't replaced them in about 6years and it's acting like the needle tip might be bent a little even though I can't see or feel anything wrong with it.

You are not wrong! I still struggle with that, I go back to work today so my bench time will mainly only on the weekends again.

Got my new nozzle and needle in today as I was swapping out the nozzle I found my problem the old one was deformed and wouldn't let the needle fully seat. I'm not sure how or when it happened since I haven't had in problems up to the last time I airbrushed.



The one on the left is the new nozzle and the right is the old. It's easier to tell in person but the opening of the old one isn't perfectly round anymore and the needle will not sit all the way in it. Hope to get some painting done here soon.

Nice troubleshooting on the airbrush! It feels nice to isolate a problem and then fix it! Looking forward to seeing the paint go on!
