Got the body and panels in primer. I love Duplicolor filler primer as it hides my body work sins and medium scratches. I always heat the can on my stove by placing it between the burners where the pilot keeps the metal warm. I leave it there for about 1/2 an hour and it's just right. I know that seems risky but it's a solid spot and won't tip. Warmed up this stuff goes on very smooth indeed. Some 600 wet or dry and it will be smooth but with a tooth. I cannot find the two little hinges that go on the doors and it is causing me stress. I'll have to fabricate them from styrene stock. Front and rear end assemblies are painted NAPA semi gloss black. It's such nice paint but it has to go over the primer or it'll bite into the plastic. Ask me how I know. :giggles: Some interior and engine parts also in primer. I'll show progress on the engine details when I get them where I like them. I've made three different brackets and I'm still not happy with how they turned out. I'll keep at it.

Mine is actually about half, maybe 3/4 complete. I use Duplicolor primer/filler exclusively, good stuff. Nice work so far.

Lyle you task master. Yeah it's all done...

I'm working on the brackets tonight and those stupid hinge pins. I may even spray some paint on a few things.

We shall see.

I did a paint test tonight. Nothing big, but I wanted to see how this stuff shoots since it's the first time I've ever tried MCW paints. Thinned with laquer thinner it went on super smooth. My main airbrush was so jammed I sat there for 30 minutes doing a top to bottom clean on it. I have 4 airbrushes and three have broken or missing pieces. I have a really nice Paasche Talon that is missing an O ring and I really need to get that sorted but I'm waiting until I move and then I'll sort out everything as far as my hobby is concerned. I bought one for primer, one for detail and so forth.

So I thinned it 60/40 paint to thinner and it was smooth. Two passes about 10 min apart and here we are. It's going to have really nice finish. What is extra sweet is the paint is flattish to semi gloss so all the components that are not the body can be painted and left as is for a proper finish and the body will get clear coat for a super glossy finish. After polishing I'm certain it's going to look pretty darned good. Back to working on other parts but I call this test a success.

Did you try it without thinning? Enamel or lacquer? MCW says the lacquer is a/b ready.

This is their enamel. I don't know if they even make this color for their laquer line. They may, but I bought this as an enamel. It's recommended at 50/50 I think but I shot at 60/40. I dried pretty nicely overnight and is a semi gloss now. So now it's simply a matter of getting things painted up to a certain point. The interior and body parts are on the table for today's sessions in the booth. I'll post results later on today.
