Getting a build a black, a grey, or whatever primer coat is a fine way to check for any not this perfect spots. I do so on almost all my builds, even on sub- assemblies.

Good decision doing a Tamiya kit, Lyle! I like them for their engineering and positive fit. One also gets the not this new ones for a good price.
