Um... Airfix 1/72 F-16A
Re: Um... Airfix 1/72 F-16A
Looking really good!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Thanks Gents - much appreciated. It needs a couple of touch ups and a bit of sanding where the masking tape left a ridge, but otherwise it came out okay.

That’s looking good Stuart. The Kansas Air Guard had nice subtle markings. Once all the grays and markings are on you can appreciate the scheme.

Try a different dark gray on the radome like here for some more visual interest.

Yep - that's the one Carlos and I agree, it looks good in those markings.
I was thinking the same on the radome. I did use the correct FS number nut my paint must be off as it should be darker. I'll see what I've got. Thanks for the tip!

No, you used the proper paint. However the radomes were made in the Neutral Gray color fiberglass material that was close to the paint, but not painted. The radome material would darken with age.

Lol! That's pretty funny Mike - I have darkened it a bit for interest.

Here’s an interesting question... when did the Vipers start having “sunglasses shade” on their canopies? I knew some were yellow and/or smoke shade in color but which Viper F-16 model started doing them.

I believe that started with the C and D versions. I'll look in the book I have to check and make sure.

F-16s started with a tinted canopy. But then when a night vision goggles came into use by pilots at night in the 90’s, the canopies went to clear.
