1/72 PTO trio FINISHED

I started the Corsair while at the airport waiting on snow.
Only addition is an Eduard pit set.
Nothing really notable about it...just the usual repositioning of the control surfaces (really wish they gave the flap option like their 1/48 kit)
Set aside, waiting paint...




Doing a pair of these. I was hoping for nice moldings...like their 109 that I've done a dozen of!
NOPE! This kit is like some old school Special Hobby kits (short run). Parts are thick and clunky and very basic.

This on will have the kitchen sink thrown at it!

Not sure yet, but I may throw in an Academy TBF as well.

The Kingfishers are under way...
Some bits glued.
Wings had to be thinned, especially the trailing edge. Also had to reshape the wingtips. Repositioned the elevators.
On the main toons, I had to replace the rear support, kit part was too short. Replaced rudder and added a few details.



The kit parts for the beaching wheels is dumb and stupid...so I made new ones...

This thing is moving slow. It feels like it's been quite some time since I've gotten this involved. Had a long string of kits that didn't need a whole lot of "help", like this one does.

So far...I decided not to use any kit parts for the pit (other than the IP)...and the PE set really isn't helpful(may still use the bits for the rear).
Both, kit and PE give the pit a floor...the real thing does not have a floor. It's more like the Corsair. I am close to having all the scratchwork done...and hope to have some pics by this evening.

Now... that Kingfisher kit. I haven't done one in decades. Gotta love the yellow wing version. The last one I did was the old Monogram Kingfisher kit. Jeh... even tested it to see if it can really float in the pool. Nope. Flopped on his side and sunk. Those were fun days during the 70s.

Ya should have sealed the seams better... perhaps some ballast in the bottom of the floats as well...



Hey, I tested my 1/35 Italeri DUKW when I completed that a few years back to see if it would float... it did.
