Dabbled coats on English Setters. However, there are other breeds you could choose to paint as: English Springer Spaniel (black and white), English Golden Retrievers, or even a simple mutt.

It's just that solid black fits my skills while dappled fits reality. I will undoubtedly end up somewhere in between.

From their poses, I’d put on a disco album and join them!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Thanks, Mike. They are OK if your eyes are watering from the wind! But I do feel I am making progress. I put them away for awhile, they need some rest and the paint needs to get well cured.
They do all have active poses, Lyle, but there will be no disco balls!

Clear coat then add acrylic washes. Running figures should have more bloom in their cheeks from exertions, try adding a light wash of pink. Use above genuine color image for the webbing on the running figures as well, little more gray shading. I would be tempted to add only washes to the exposed skin, face and hands basically of all figures except the hound, of course! I would add chalk dust to the boots, and oil or grease to the hands of the mechanics in addition to the above. Then as a final touch I would paint shadow to the eye areas, albeit with a light touch. I know you are well versed in all areas of model building I am only making brief suggestions to enhance and add to what you have already presented.

Bruce, your post will be very helpful. When it comes to figures I am a babe in the woods (with lousy color vision!).
