I have put the two hulls together, done some mud effects and dust effects. I chipped the paint using some regular silver paint on a crusty brush.
I am yet to do the decals.

Paint used on US tanks is extremely tough. The sheet metal areas such as fenders flex and will chip, then oxidize quickly. Edges of hatches and such will show only minimal paint abrasion wear even after years of use.
