There are some ribs and PE details on the side walls. Not much but enough for a closed canopy build. The seat is much more visible so I choose to add some cushions, seat belts and ejection handles.
The cockpit (and the whole plane) is quite small so this is good enough for me.

I stil have the wreck of the B-36 I had as a kid. It hung from my ceiling but a gust of wind blew it of its hook. I might cut out a section. Or a section of my B-29 wreck, that was the actual carrier plane.

The canopy is a very bad fit. I added some shims to make it work. But one has to be very carefull to not cut to much away.




I did some more research and found that the first prototype (6523) was quite different from the second (6524). Of course both had different configurations each but the biggest difference between 23 and 24 is the middle rudder. With 23 this was blended with the fuselage but with 24 this was not the case. As a result only 24 can be build from this box unless one blends the rudder with putty. So I choose to build 24.

I still wonder some officials in the U.S. took this project really serious... Look at the size and shape of the kit in your hands; would you have p... in your pants when flying a MiG-15?

I agree, it really was a flawed concept. Operational range/duration would have been 30 minutes. That is not much time to protect those bombers. Furthermore, going up against a MiG-15 (2x23mm and 1x37mm) with four .50's is a bad idea to begin with.


More progress: the wings and all (6!) tail surfaces have been fitted. Just a tad of putty and then it is time for a black base.

What a special (euh, funny) looking plane.. Difficult to believe it actually existed and I guess the only one that took this seriously was the designer of the egg..

But nevertheless, really interesting to follow this build Borg,
