Thanks for the posts, Tom and Carlos! I've only made a very little progress in the last few days, but I hope to have an update soon. Still fidgeting around about the decals...when I know I'm going to buy some in the end.

Yeah, I ended up using some Aeromaster decals on my Monogram Mossie. It’s not too often that I use kit decals.

a really great subject. Go look for Kermit Weeks' video of his Mossie. a Good walkaround.

here is part one...

Well, this project has currently ground to a halt. The issue is lack of appropriate decals. I've appealed to the company that makes the sheet I need, but have so far been ignored. I found another set that might've worked on Ebay, but they sold while I procrastinated. :headslap: I do need a specific type of Star of David roundel but to really pull off the build, I also need some stenciling in Hebrew and a certain unit badge. So, perhaps I'll set it aside for now and see what comes up in the future, or go with Plan B and just plow ahead with the decals I can get and forget about the stencils and badges. (Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinking badges!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqomZQMZQCQ )

And since this just the old Monogram chestnut, OOB in fact, maybe I should just churn her out, with the decals I can scrounge up and stop acting like it's some kinda super-model that deserves the utmost accuracy and go for "close enough". After all, I've already got the Vallejo paints for the scheme I chose. What do you guys think?

Hey Gary - I was digging through my decals looking for my instrument decals and I came across these - I think they were for a 1/48 MD-500 kit. Yours if you want them.

Those are likely quite small being for a 1/48 MD-500.

For the wings you could paint a larger white roundel and place the white backgrounds over and it may match pics I saw. The outlined ones may go nicely on the slender aft fuselage. I'll send them over and you can choose Gary.

And if they don't work, I've used Aztec decals in the past and they're nice. I got their Hinamaru set. Pretty cool because it covers all the major scales.

Thanks John! All very helpful stuff. :shoutout: Here's a look at the scheme I want to replicate. This art is just a profile of sort, for a skin I assume, but it's a striking scheme nonetheless. The camo scheme was chosen for the IAF's Operation Kadesh, in 1956, but I don't think these Mossies participated in reality. I also believe the spinners and rudder should be black instead of red.

And, here's a look at the type of stenciling I need:
