I woke up around 6 this morning and decided to give those nacelles a gloss coat of Future to get the day started. Sometimes, rarely, the modeling gods do smile upon our efforts. I poured the Future straight from the bottle into the paint cup and adjusted the needle once...and then hit the paint mule. It was just right, with no further fiddling about! I'll throw some Flory wash around the nacelles later today and then they'll be ready for the landing gear and on to the wing assembly.

Got a question for you. Maybe I missed something, but are those big gaps in the nacelles?

Yeah, they are big, but's just because the wing halves haven't been glued together. You probably missed where I mentioned the landing gear was designed to be mounted in the nacelle from above. Of course, that leaves the LG sticking out for the duration of the build. I decided to finish paint the nacelle areas around the LG, attach the gear, and then glue the wings together. I'll still need to be watchful of the LG, but I can easily shield them and blend the paint when the rest of the airplane is painted. Mike, I should've made it clearer, I hope this helps!

I'm considering a change in direction for this one. Frustrated that I can't get the decal set that I need and lacking the technology to create my own at this time, I'm thinking of changing schemes from an Israeli bird of the mid-50s to something else. At some point, maybe I will get the decals I need and then I can use them on a newer, better kit of a Mossie (Tamiya?). I really don't want the usual WWII RAF scheme of dark green and ocean gray over light grey. Since my nacelles are already painted in the light grey color for the IAF plane, naturally I want to keep those in that color.

Can anyone offer some suggestions for a color scheme for this Mosquito fighter-bomber? Perhaps, something in a Middle East, or desert-type scheme would be nice and a change from all the other Brit planes in my display with the same basic paint work. I believe I can cobble together enough decals to make something work or else buy another decal set for the new scheme.

So, any suggestions for something that will work, something different or unusual? I will appreciate it a lot!

Man that sucks. I feel your pain though. I have the P-3 Orion all built up and ready for paint but no decals. Caracal was supposed to be doing some but I've waited all year and still nothing.

Since you've already painted the nacelles, that kind of limits you on paint schemes if you're going to stay with the Medium Sea Grey undersides. But there are many other paint schemes to choose from
Coastal Command Strike Wing Mossies wore Extra Dark Sea Grey over Sky
SEAC Mossies were (latte) overall High Speed Silver or (early) Dark Earth and Dark Green over Medium Sea Grey or Azure Blue
early Night Fighters were solid Black, later in the Overall Medium Sea Grey with a topside pattern of Dark Green, as were the Fighter Command squadrons
Bomber Command Pathfinder Mossies were Ocean Grey and Dark Green over Black
