Saw this on the modeling news and it looks pretty interesting. History, profiles and model builds. I pre-ordered it.

Re: Falklands War book
The history & profiles are cool, but I’m a bit reluctant to pay for a book price to look at photos of somebody else’s builds.

You can look at mine for free, Carlos! The Victor that stretched the range for the Black Buck mission to the limit, XL189.
Re: Falklands War book
Nice build John. That war happened when I was a Senior in HS and I don't recall too much about how it all went down. I have the 30000 ft understanding so hoping the book has a good bit of history. Plus, two of the 1/48 models they have (Pucara and the Sea Harrier) are in the stash so I hope the do build articles. And it was $12 (shipping of course pushed it up to $20).
Thanks,
John

Re: Falklands War book
Martin Bishop (Bish) ran a Falklands GB on FSM not long ago and I built the Victor for it. Lots of interesting info in that thread.
Hard not to think how much simpler that bombing campaign would have been had the Brit's had the time to lease a few B-52's from our boneyard.

The famous Victor… how I always wanted to build that bird. It’s been on my wish list for a few years along with the Nimrod and Vulcan.

Re: Falklands War book
The Airfix newer kit is much better than the Revell Germany kit.
Re: Falklands War book
This arrived yesterday and is nice publication with great pics and history, order of battle, maps etc. I'd had thought of this (from my 1982 senior year recollection) as a skirmish but after reading there were pretty significant losses on both sides for a two month engagement.
Now I'm inspired to build my Falklands War kits. I have a 1/48 Kinetic Pucara, 1/48 Tamiya Sea Harrier FRS1 (I know, I know) and a 1/48 Revell Westland Wessex HAS Mk.3 all with Falklands war markings (or close). I'd like to hunt down 'Humphrey' decals for the Wessex.

Re: Falklands War book
Be mindful on the tiny fiddly bits on the Pucara. I've lost a couple tiny parts on the tail end of my build.
All is left to do on mine are the PE static dischargers for the wings.

Re: Falklands War book
Thanks for the tip. Looking forward to your finished build. Such a cool aircraft. A pair of Pucaras scored the only Argentinian air to air victory shooting down a Scout helicopter.
Thanks,
John
