I'll have to keep an eye out for Otaki kits at Syrcon this year.

This one and their Zero are probably their “worst”. As the series was expanded, it got better and better. A few improvements here & there and you can have some real sweet builds from them…

These two are also old original Otaki/Arii kits of mine…

I think the ARII/Otaki/AMT Spitfire can claim the title of worst, Carlos, but I don't think I have seen the Zero.

The Zero had exceptionally heavy recessed detail scribing... something of a combination of matchbox 1/72 trenches and Trumpeters "mad riveter"... :giggles:

I have the AMT Spit in my stash and it doesn't look that bad... just the usual work needed in the cockpit, and a replacement canopy will help immensely.... and of course decals...

The part that bothered me was the lack of any representation of the gull wing like shape at the bottom of the wing roots in the trailing edge. The Zero does sound worse.

Carlos, your Ki-43 turned out exceptionally well! I love the markings... variation in intensity of the mottling is especially well done. And the blue markings really make this aircraft stand out visually. Bravo! My only comment would be the thickness of the aerial mast when looking at it either head-on or from the back. Otaki was really ahead of its time, wasn't it?

John & Gary, thank you.

John, Otaki sure was ahead of their time in their external detailing! But yes, some things, like the aerial mast, were typical early 70's... :hmm:

Gary, that was a fun airbrushing session. Everything went just right.

Great looking Oscar Stik! Love that camo. Very sharp looking build all around!
