1/35 M4A3 76mm Project

Neat project, Carlos! I've never built a Sherman model either but that's not surprising with only three tanks done. Carlos, which kit is the best E8 version? I might have time left to put one together.

Thanks Gary! Tough call as to which E8 kit is the best in 1/35. Rye Field’s has to be the most detailed with its’ complete interior, and Tamiya takes top marks for ease of assembly engineering, but again, Tasca/Asuka will have exquisite detail as well. If you want some more “one off” variant options, Dragon is worth a look. .. it all depends upon what you’re looking for.

Thank you for that input, Carlos. I don't need anything too fancy, I'm sure the Tamiya kits would be more than suitable. With their Panther and Bulldog built, I would probably feel comfortable with their Sherman offering too. It will be a bit later before I could start one. I think (oh boy, that gets me in trouble every time! ) I might start a 1/24 resin auto build soon. I haven't built a car since about 1976 and never a full resin kit, so I am quite intimidated by the prospect; I have all the parts laid out and do think it's "doable"...time will tell!

I think it may skip over the Israeli types such as the M50, M51, etc. but most of what’s out there is listed…

Tom, pretty much all of our armor kits at work are high end… we have an handful of Das Werk, Takom, and AK kits… even once my employee discount kicks in, they won’t be pocket change to pick up….

Kari, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the classic Italeri kits, or the old or new Tamiya Shermans, with the older ones being easy peasy builds, easily built over a weekend... Academy makes some decent ones too. The Tasca/Asuka kits are absolutely gorgeous, and the new Rye Field Models kits are incredible, coming with full interiors…

Thanks Carlos for the info, I think the older Tamiya or the Italeri would be the ones for me to go with!
