Airfix 1/72 Curtis Hawk 81-A-1

Post by Stuart »

Hi All,

I just finished this up today so I thought I'd share it - Airfix's little P-40/Curtis Hawk kit done up as one of the flying Tigers. I have to say I'm pretty pleased with this one - I love the P-40 and it's great to have one on the shelf finally. It was also my first go at doing a Shark mouth scheme. Yes I did have to tidy up around the intake, but the decals performed really well. This is an excellent little kit overall, and I'd recommend building one if you get the chance. I have a USAAF P-40 and a RAF Tomahawk boxing of the same kit - I'm looking forward to building both.

The colours aren't 100%, but I used what I had in the stash to get as close as possible. Paints were Humbrol and Citadel, brush painted as ever. The clear coats were Mr Hobby Super Clears.

Very nice! I've been wanting to add a P-40 to my collection for some time. That AVG is such an iconic image - it's what I thought of as a WWII fighter when I was a boy.... kinda still do. Well done.
Thanks,
John

Another fine model from Stuart. I have several of the 1/48 Airfix P-40B's, also great kits.

Too late for reference and inspiration, but on a nice historical note…
