Gary Brantley wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 8:35 am On my workbench right now is the worst fitting model airplane I've worked on in many years. It's making a Monogram kit look like precision-fit! What is this nightmare, you may ask? The Trumpeter 1/48 MiG-3 (early version) has been reviewed by many, and nobody has seemingly had the issues I'm having. I've long read of modelers "binning" a bad kit and never quite understood that. Well, now I do. If I didn't have so much work into it already and a nice cockpit result, I'd throw it in the trash too. :pod: The main fuselage went together well, but man, mating that to the wings is just a beast. :poo: I had gaps everywhere and now have a true "shim monster"! I don't see one of the short seams ever lining up and it may end being a good representation of a "sprung" panel under the engine when I'm done!

Maybe I'll get some pics of this obscenity before tackling the problems today. Aye yi yi! :headbang:
I don't think I have ever heard anything positive about Trumpeter A/C. Their armor and ships can be nice, but the planes are a bit...well...not good. You can do it !!
Man, you've got a lot going on, Brandon! That's plenty of work for long, Winter days!

Thanks for the encouragement too! I was just looking it over; doable but not much fun!

Brandons_Iron wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 9:15 am At this moment I am building several kits at once. And several more to be started soon.
On the bench...
An older Minicraft 1/144 C-118,
Tamiya 1/48 P-51B,
Airfix 1/24 Bf-109E,
Revell 1/25 C3 Road race Corvette,
Revell 1/24 McLaren 570S,
Monogram 1/24 1964 GTO,
Meng 1/35 Panther Ausf A early

Starting soon...
Hobbyboss 1/72 80cm railgun DORA
Airfix 1/35 Tiger I early -for Fury Dio
Revell 1/25 1932 Ford 5 window
Revell 1/25 1969 GTO
Revell 1/251969 Hemi Dart
Revell 1/25 1970 Challanger T/A
Revell 1/25 1970 Cuda AAR
Tamiya 1/24 Porsche 934 Jagermeister
Hasegawa 1/48 F-16CJ

7 currently on the bench?! If I had that many on my bench, that's a mojo disease for me. I've got 4 in progress. The Black Bunny Tomcat is shelved til spring.

I've got 2 Spits and an He-111 in progress. The He-111 has been set aside since last year til I got canopy masks recently.

Lake effect snow these past 24 hours is keeping me away from the bench for now. 20 inches fell so far. More is expected tonight and Saturday. Sunday all this is "suppose" to end. :bored:

Too tired and not motivated to do any building at this moment. :whiteflag:

Ya, you guys are getting all the snow this year. We've been warm and dry. We have like 2 inches and we normally have 3 feet or more. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Stop shoveling and build models. It's easier on the body and mind.

Easy said than done. Dog hates the snow. That's why I snowblow the yard for him. My dog is a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. I've done it for my last Cavalier Spaniel. A co-worker of mine does it for his dog too. Funny that he relates to what I do for my dog.

This is the first year in the last 4 years we've had significant snowfall. Climate change my ass. There's no climate change and never was.

So, yeah... snow needs to be cleared from driveway and on cars. BTW... it's snowing again outside. Didn't do anything during the day. It'll be the same again tomorrow (Saturday).

Lake effect snow is pretty much wet snow coming off Lake Ontario.

Here's the lake effect snow warning. Click on the orange bar.

Ill post that up when it's done. She's not a great kit, just one of Goldhammer's kits with no box so I thought I'd build it up quick. Taking some extra work as it'll be polished. So, I need to take my time with the finish. I hope the decals hold up, it's the Independence.

That is a stellar livery! Try Alclad 119 for the high shine chrome. I did this little 1/144 DC-3 in the super shine airframe aluminum.

Lots of great stuff here guys!

I’ve got two main things going on at the moment….

first up, when I took my M113 Family group photo, I realized that this kit was never truly finished… it was at around the 98% mark… no stowage, markings, some detail painting needed to be done, weathering, etc… so I have been doing that over the past few days

Plus I am working on finishing up some Miniart crew figures for my LAV-AD

Nice work on the figures Stik. The guy on the left looks a little pale. He obviously needs a day at the beach
