Ah, Kari, I have never used those paints before, but I can only imagine that the kind of coverage would be very different from others; I have become so used to Mr. Color that I worry some times if I can no longer find or afford to buy their colors whether I will be able to switch to another company’s brand; this is the kind of small yet deep anxiety common to model building and perhaps stems from color coat choice being one of the more challenging aspects of the “hobby.” Your degree of control and confidence here is most refreshing.

Thanks Bruce, I would put MRP and Mr Color in the same class, both top ones!

The advantage with MRP is, that it's ready to shoot. No thinning, nothing, just pour into the gun and shoot!

Sprayed a few layers more of Gloss Sea Blue on the Avenger, I think it's ok now. Decided to remove the canopy masking in the same go, and well, looks also ok.



Have during the entire build, as a side job, prepared all the bits and pieces. Those need to wait still, as I believe next step is to start the work with decals. I do use the ones that came with the kit.

Wow, Kari....that is very well painted! Looks great. I try to also do bits and pieces seperately, but often just mess things up.

MRP degasses/dries instantly, really convenient!

It just is a very unhealthy & smelly paint, so good ventilation is more than good to have, but an appropriate respirator mask a must!

Good information, Kari. Thank you so much. My question was related to hard curing; I find most of the paints I use take some small amount of time to harden (I’m not sure if I’m using that term correctly). I have not yet found a paint that wasn’t more effective (protective) if handled after the first 8-12 hours following application. I personally think that when a model builder says “such and such paint is delicate,” the paint wasn’t cured. Thoughts?

Bruce, most of the new lacquers say you can mask over them within an hour and or spray over them instantly. May not be rock hard but the surface is hard enough to mask over very quickly
