Medic's Airfix 1/48 P-51D Mustang

Post by Medicman71 »

So I started this kit because I'm not able to paint things due to weather and people wanting to see the house (the house we rent is for sale, long story). Because of that I can't stink up the model room. :bored:

For my first Airfix kit, it's not bad. It fits perfectly and any issues with that are all my fault. That being said, the plastic is super soft and it's easy to go to far cleaning things up. The entire cockpit and all of the internals were painted with AK Real Paint Markers.

Looking good Mike!

I have also built the still new Airfix 1:48 Mustang, was a nice build all in all. Interesting detail, I had on my bench simultaniously Eduards new P-51D, but that build has not (yet) been finished. Liked the Airfix kit much more!

Looks good Mike. I have heard nothing but good things about that kit and have 3 waiting in the wings myself...so to speak. It seems that it's main criticism is that it's not from Eduard :giggles:

Its a great kit.

If you're using the kit decals. They are really nice. The stripes on the hub take a bit of patience.

Good looking Mustang TJ. Question, how many kill markings on that bird? Looks like 10 from here… :hmm:

Got the canopy masked and attached. I'm using the "closed gear doors" as a mask for the gear bays.
