Macross Plus YF-19

Post by Medicman71 »

I started building this while we were waiting on our house situation to get figured out (long story). I couldn't paint or use anything that would make the model room stink because of house showings. But now that we know we're staying, it's back to full speed on all of my builds.

This is the Hasegawa 1/48 YF-19 from Macross Plus. Without ordering from overseas, it's very hard to find Macross/Robotechin 1/48. Amazon actually has this at a decent price. I was able to find some photoetch for it but I haven't used much. You build this up in sub-assemblies and bring them all together at the end. It hasn't been the best fitting kit but nothing I can't handle. I'm not going to do the scheme on the box. I think I'm going to paint and weather it like a US Navy jet. We'll see when I get to that point.

Test fitting things. The fit of most parts is not great.

I’m subscribed. Is this a short run kit, Mike?

Thanks guys! No it isn't a short run kit. Got this one off of Amazon.

Filling and sanding in progress. Using black super glue on small spots. A nice trick is to use a paint marker to check your work.

Lovely work on the driver dude, dude.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
