A bit more progress - I've got a lot of filling to do around the wingroots and the cowling. The fit is pretty poor in these places, and removing the sprue gates has left some ugly marks - par for the course with Airfix.

Well....the wing root had gaps, got those taken care of, but detail is gone. Actually, there was not much to start with. Anyway, some progress.

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Did someone say they were building the 1/48 Revell/Monogram P-40B? It's a cool old kit and one that I did back in the early 1990s. It was the first and last model on which I kept track of the time I spent. Oy vey! :headslap: I won't admit to how long it took me, the wing roots alone ate up several sheets of sandpaper! I never kept a record of hours spent on a build ever again!

I imagine every one of us plane folks have built a flying tiger. The boxart just grabs a young boys attention.
Thanks,

Stuart, you are making quick work of your P-40. Looking good so far!

I have one that I need to finish Gary. Roger what you said about the wing roots. My 'B' got back benched because I thought I would throw it together quick -- but AMS said 'no no no' :nono: after all the major construction was done. So now I'm trying to fix up the wheel wells and interior wing detail seen from the flap openings. Your P-40B looks great BTW. Lovely build! I'll be doing what ever markings come in the Revel boxing (AVG Shark Mouth of course!). I have no P-40's in my collection currently. :bag: Ultimately, I want to have the Revel(Monogram) P-40B, The Great old Revell 1/32 P-40E, and probably 1 or 2 of the New Eduard 'E''s (One Shark Mouth and one Aleutian Tiger). Oh Dan, I forgot I have the nice little Sword P-40E that just came out a few years back I need to build as well.

Here is a picture of decals.
That's a sweet decals sheet. I bought that kit off ebay 10 years ago or so and it had inside the box like 5 of those decal sheets! Now I don't know what happened to it... Probably sold it and forgot I sold it...

Thanks, Chris! I'm surprised that all the radio aerials are still intact. Man, that thing has been around a long time!

It's a nice little kit this, nothing too taxing about it (yet).
