MIM-23 HAWK

Post by Stikpusher »

My latest completion, Dragon’s 1/35 HAWK missiles on M192 launcher. I built this kit OOB and painted it in MERDC colors based off the few reasonable reference photos of US Army launchers that I could find online. The Launcher is painted in AK 3rd Gen and Real Colors paints, while the missiles are in Gunze Aqueous and Tamiya acrylics.

Just awesome. Great job on such an iconic system. Feels like Godzilla or alien invaders are coming :giggles:
Thanks,

John, Tom, and Gary, thank you guys! It’s a really neat kit, and sure looks different on my shelves alongside all my Cold War NATO stuff. I suppose I need to tackle the Chaparral track sometime soon now to round out my late Cold War US Army “Duck Hunters” collection.

You earned it, my friend! When I was a kid, I got this Monogram missile set for Christmas one year. I loved comparing all the various missiles back then since all were the same scale. Even then, my OCD was starting to show! I believe that one or two of them are still around in the study somewhere. It's been rereleased by Atlantis and I've considered getting another set.

Beautiful work Carlos! Man I wish I could get that in 1/72 scale! What a magnificent model!

Mark, thank you! I’m quite surprised that there is not a 1/72 HAWK set out there. In the 60’s era there were the 1/40 Revell kit and the 1/32 Renwall kit available. I vaguely also recall seeing the various HAWK battery bits made in Roco minitanks.

Gary, man I would love to find one of those missile sets. I wanted but never snagged the Man in Space sets of manned space flight rockets. Bit…. I did get to see the “Rocket Garden” at Kennedy Space Center a few years back….

Man, talk about inspirational…
