Ordered my Christmas gifts at Scalehobbyist webstore from the missus. She didn't know what I wanted but told me to place the order. All righty then......

Picked these up from evil-bay the other day. Not cheap but I've been after them for a while as they're rare as rocking horse poo - the AM came with the truck.

Isn't it amazing the prices we see people paying for kits on Ebay? I know most people blame the seller for charging such stupid prices for these kits, but the truth is if people were not paying those prices they would not be charging those prices. Kit prices are out of control anymore. Great score BTW.

Like as recent as last month or so, folks fighting over these bear shaped latte cups at Starbucks and selling them on eBay for 5 times what they're worth. I guess some people will spend stupid money for stupid stuff these days.

Let's just say I ordered a wingy subject, a floaty subject and supplies (paint).

Thanks Tom! I'm looking forward to building them - I love the old Tamiya kits.BlackSheep214 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 03, 2025 6:17 pm

Talking of which, I've been reading 'Spearhead' by Adam Makos recently (bloody good book by the way) - and I have to say I'd never actually realised that the M26 Pershing served in WWII - it certainly sounds like a cool tank, so obviously I had to investigate...

Yup, a handful of Pershings arrived in the ETO at the end of the Ardennes campaign and were parceled out to several US Armored divisions. In addition to the now famous duel with the Panther at Cologne, several fought at Remagen during the capture of the bridge there. Another was knocked out by a Tiger in a close range night time engagement.
The design was underpowered, but otherwise was pretty solid, particularly the suspension, being the basis for the next 30 years of US evolutionary tank design until the Abrams.

I love Spearhead. A fast read and it puts you right into the action from the get go. The Pershing tank is definitely on my must have kit.
That’s why I have the Panther tank in progress. Just need to figure out the number on the shot up tank and its commander to verify for decals.
Adam Makos first book is A Higher Call - another good book. I haven’t read Devotion and Voices of the Pacific yet which is his last two books. Spearhead was his second book.
