Thank you guys. Bruce, I tend to sharpen my blades sometimes as well; but like Carlos, I eventually lose the tips so replacements are needed then. I'm always rough on blades. When building, I use two knife handles; one has an older blade with a broken tip that is still sharp enough to cut most things, and a second handle with a brand new blade for trimming and refining parts. I have been in need of new blades for quite some time.
Tom, yes, they are French ships, naval frigates of the most modern kind. I just wish someday they'd release more of the older French and Italian cold-war-era ships inn 1/700 scale, especially the old Guiseppi Garibaldi aircraft carrier and the Vittorio Veneto helicopter cruiser. Alas, a man can dream. And yes, Debonder can melt plastic. They sure did a number on my vinyl parts on the Budweiser wagon, but not enough that I couldn't finish it.

I totally agree and am completely aware of how it’s a personal touch with blades. It has to be. You use what feels right in the hand. I didn’t want to post actually but it occurred to me that I’ve never spent much on blades because I just sharpen them - the worst crustys I just sandpaper them smooth again when I’m working. I think my mantra is to use a saw for brute force and blade for finesse.

I'm just wierd. I won't spend money on blades, but I'll blow all kinds of money on other stupid things I don't need. It's far easier to change the blade, that's for sure.
I finally picked up a large scale shuttle I've always wanted and the price is good for the size of the kit, it's nearly 20 inches long. And the box is massive. I also picked up some AK weathering pencils, I've waited long enough on these.

Nice scores Brandon! Mark built aa 1/72 shuttle… it is pretty big when built! How much did the AK weathering pencil set cost you?

I paid $47 for the set. I've been watching them for quite sometime and the price just never went down. So I bit the bullet and picked them up.

Hey I don’t think it’s weird at all to sharpen X-Acto blades because it makes them function better in my opinion. Plus I feel that ditching a blade for a fresh one is wasteful, every time I watch a video and the modeler says, “Now I need to use a fresh blade,” I shake my head. Keep your blades sharp!
Congrats on the big purchases! It must feel good to score that kit! Look forward to seeing you crack the seal.

The last space shuttle I did was when Moonraker came out in theaters. Yup… I built the Moonraker Space Shuttle kit.

Well I went and jumped into the 3D rabbit hole… I had been wanting a printer for quite some time, but haven’t had the spare money to get one.. Until recently when a friend from my old IPMS & AMPS chapters said that he was selling his lightly used set up for a great price due to his being highly allergic to the resins. He gave me a sweet deal, so on Saturday we did an hit and run road trip to go pick it up. Then yesterday I set it up in my garage… he threw in multiple accessories as well

Now I just need to learn how to use the thing. So hopefully sometime in the next month or so I will be starting to produce some items. Keep your fingers crossed

Oh nice. Definitely will be a learning curve to figure out how to operate it.
