Re: Macross Plus YF-19
Forgot to update this one. Got the intakes installed and started painting some metallic details on the fuselage. Just a little bit of painting left and I can gloss coat it and start the decals.

Re: Macross Plus YF-19
So I have a question. I'm using Micro-Set and Sol. These decals need something stronger. I have Ammo's Decal Fix and Set as well as Tamiya Mark Fit and Mark Fit Strong. Is any of those better than Set and Sol?

Re: Macross Plus YF-19
Mike, I feel ya buddy! I’ve run into this problem before with either aged decals and decals made using slightly different materials than Cartograf. My personal choice for decals that resist Micro-Sol would be GSI-Creote Mark Softer which is similar to Tamiya Fit Strong only… stronger. Another trick that I learned from my Dad was using a hair dryer to help a drying decal to conform to a cylindrical surface—I’m describing trains now. When I did the decals on wood I used Mr. Mark plus heat.

I've done a lot of homebrew decals and heat is what I tend to use. I always test a batch first on whatever I'm using—the surface is critical to be either clean and in some cases glossed. Work slow. Test first.

Can't really help with the decal problem Mike as I only ever use Hot water and Mirocsol & Set.
It looks blooming brilliant though!

Re: Macross Plus YF-19
Well decaling is done!!! Took a whole day to do and they were really fragile. I used some Pax River test wing/squadron decals on it to make it a little different. I've re-gloss coated it and I'll start weathering tomorrow. I also painted the exhausts and other metal parts dark aluminum. Those will get weathered as well.
