Tape over decals?! I've had too many mishaps like that, even when decals were sealed in with a top coat... you're a bold soul! :hmm:

I know that was my first reaction, too. I was worried about the decals, but I think they are sealed or Chris is just going totally commando!

Actually there are no decals in play here except for some tiny stencils near the leading edge. Every thing else is paint. Sorry if I caused any heart palpitations out there. I forgot that when communicating in text format, you should not leave any room for assumptions

The model was just there for context anyway. The post was about my hand condition. Whenever I unmask something , my non-tweezer hand suddenly becomes covered with tape. Anyone else have this issue?

I suffer from the same affliction from time to time, along with the 'lines of paint thumb' that often affects miniature painters :bag:

Ahhhhh! I can reset my robot danger detector to safe… :giggles:

No heart palpations here, but definitely a “this might not end well” thought crossed my mind… :hmm: so all the masking tape from painted on markings makes more sense now.
My freehand does not get covered in tape. It’s the left side drawer edge tops that get to hold any salvageable masking tape.

Chris, I very much understood, but apologies for not answering you directly or at all. I've had modeler's tape hands happen quite often, but I'm used to de-tacking Tamiya tape by placing it on a cloth; I don't keep pieces on my gloves when I do remember to wear them. I think I'm very strange when I write about the things that I do, actually. Your methodology is quite a bit neater and saner than mine!

LOL, No problem Bruce! I actually put the tape on my hand while I am removing the mask. And no need to think you are strange for posting about misc things you do (well in the context of model building/painting :giggles: ). It is interesting to see other peoples processes and techniques and you never know who might find it useful.
