Accurate Miniatures 1/48 SBD-3 Dauntless

Post by Medicman71 »

So I started this kit as part of a Secret Santa GB on another forum. The idea was that you listed your stash and your Secret Santa picked one and that's what you built. I think my secret santa hates me. This is not an easy kit and the instructions are really vague on where things go exactly. I painted the interior and engine with AK and Dspaie paint markers. I've got the fuselage together and I'm about to add the cockpit and lower wing.

I’d say your Secret Santa chose well Mike. :hmm: And this is looking really good so far. :shoutout:

Great job Mike- I've built 3 or 4 iterations of those kits and they were really the top of the class in that scale...when their website was up they had great tutorials online...don't know if if they are available anywhere now but from what I'm seeing you're doing pretty well on your own.

Thanks guys!

I got the lower wing attached. It took lots of super glue, Tamiya Extra Thin, and multiple clamps to get it right. Next is the upper wings.

Looking good, Mike! I can see the glue on the interior spars; sure looks as though that plastic put up a fight!

It's looking good though! It's seems you are pretty far along but I wonder if the Academy re-box has better instructions?
