No Worries Bruce!

I have to say I'm thoroughly enjoying this kit - it's really nice to be building something non-military, that doesn't have to be painted exactly right. It makes me want to have a go at a proper Car or Motorbike kit.

The Bike and Sidecar are pretty much finished and I've finally got them together, I just want to do a bit more of a dark wash around the various silver parts. I've already added a Citadel Nuln Oil wash to the engine cylinder.





I've also started to paint the ladder and the porridge/soap suds gun.



Once these are done I'll make a start painting W&G themselves. Both are assembled, including pins in the butt-joint necks, and just need painting. As it is, Wallace's torso is hanging in the garage whilst I build up thin layers of white on his shirt from a rattlecan. His head is on my workbench... it's pretty grim :sick:

This project definitely showcases how much fun you’re having with the subject; and all the time spent on historical pieces has resulted in a sharp-looking build. I could kick myself for not picking up this kit after reading one negative online review and I’ll never do so again.

That's very true Tom - I might have do some more of this type of thing. I can see why Mike enjoys building Gundam as much as he does.

Thanks Bruce, I really appreciate that. It has been a lot of fun and I guess it is showing through. If I'm honest, I'm also enjoying just concentrating and focusing on one project, and seeing it through from start to finish without switching over to another build - I've not done that for a long while and it's actually a nice change of pace. I need to remember that and do some more of the same this year. John's GB Spitfire will be the next I think.

I've been caught out in the same way with reviews, which is why I don't bother with them any more and prefer to make up my own mind. The trouble with them is that it's just an opinion, and everyone's opinion varies.

I've enjoyed many a kit over the years that have been slammed in reviews, and likewise built some that were reviewed as 'ultra-uber, fantastical, best kit in the known universe' that turned out to be absolute dogs.

I've had the same with books recently. I read a few sci-fi books last year from a author who'd won multiple awards and was praised as the best thing since sliced-bread (or frozen pizza), that turned out to be awful. Great concepts maybe, but very poor repetitive stories and a self indulgent writing style.

I usually check out books from my library but two years ago I purchased and read Book One of the “Inhibitor Trilogy” by Alastair Reynolds and I’m still nursing a grudge against that book. As Frank Herbert once wrote, “When a customer spends their hard earned coin on my book, I am going to give them full value.”
