Re: IDF TOW M151
Thank you Robert. It turned out as nicely as aimed for.

Just to dig up an old thread
Carlos, did the US army M151's have the passenger side MG, or was that just an IDF thing?

Re: IDF TOW M151
Stuart, the only US Army units I know of for certain with the passenger machine guns on jeeps were the Ranger battalions. They would strap down a tripod in reverse onto the hood & fender to mount a second M60 in addition to the standard rear pintle mounted one on the rear. These “gun jeeps” were used as mobile firepower for roadblocks and similar such tasks. Otherwise most units were content with the single M60.

Ah okay - thanks for that Carlos (cool photo btw, I'm sure you're right about Chuck
). I suspected that might be the case but I just wanted to check with the man who knows. I'll be building the TOW Jeep anyway so no additional MG. Would I wrong in bunging a bit of additional stowage in one? I was thinking of getting Tamiya's Modern US equipment box (or two, I need some for my M1).
I'm right in thinking MERDC am I?

I’m glad you dug this up, Stuart! Carlos! Thank you for sharing such an enjoyable project. Beautiful scratch building and design work too!
Make more models!

Re: IDF TOW M151
No couldn't be wrong adding more stooge equipment at all. But the Tamiya stowage set is hit & miss as to what would go onto a TOW jeep. They were replaced by Humvees in the mid 80's, so some of the stuff in that set is too modern, some is not. The MREs and sleeping bags are definitely out, as ar the thermarest sleeping mats, but the older foam sleeping pads are good. Yes, the jeep would be in MERDC camo. For US Army mostly Temperate Fall or Gray Desert. Some might even be in solid overall Desert Sand, but that would be rare.
