Thanks, Stuart. I spent about thirty minutes over the past two nights fabricating what I would call bottom stringers for the base of the box; these will support the floor boards. Now I’ve seen some models where the control cables pass over the floor boards but I’m not sure if that’s the case. I’ll have to consult the Wingnut Wings instruction manual which has fast become my source for adapting material. The other piece I’ve built is the visible part of the fuel tank. I’m really not sure there should be a headrest of the type Revell designed; I think this and the instrument panel are based on the Air Force Ship’s Camel which would make sense from the photos I’ve seen. I made the fuel tank part the way you’d make a pattern mold by creating a smaller shell then adding thin layers of putty over this.

I’ve uploaded this image because I believe this is where some of the ideas came from that inform the Revell kit, but it’s guesswork. The position of both the exhausts pipes and the ammo chutes are too high on the model and will stay that way for now.

Many older Revell kits are based off ones in a few air museums.. Santa Monica, early Chino, Chicago Science and Industry, Wright Patterson USAF, and Smithsonian. The first two because they were fairly close to the original pre merger Revell being out of Venice CA. If you find the older instructions online, the narrative on the front page will often credit what museum and aircraft that they used for the kit basis.

Thank you, Carlos! Very interesting intel and Revell did indeed thank Maj. Kimbrough S. Brown, USAF, Jack Canary and Rollie Bliss of NAA and Robert Hare. The Christian names of Canary and Hare seem a little fantastic but are probably real.

RE-LOAD!

The pink bottle CA is very good. Just watch your fingers. I’ve had some residual drippings on my fingers more than I can count. :giggles: :giggles: :giggles:

That looks like my haul from Hobby Lobby! 👍 Those are the exact three CA glues that I use as well, Bruce. I like them fine but have noticed a rather short shelf life with mine.
