Academy 1/48 TBM-3 Avenger

Post by Medicman71 »

Guess I hadn't posted this here. So hard to keep track when you have a billion builds going on at the same time. :giggles: But with the AK Markers, doing WW2 aircraft can be quick to build up when I paint the interior with them. So I started this one a couple of weeks ago. Not a bad kit since it's a re-pop of the Accurate Miniatures kit. I got a Quinta Studios interior set for it and they're ok. Kinda flimsy compared to the Red Fox set that I've used before. Got the fuselage together yesterday and about ready to add the wings. I did order a canopy mask set from Kit Masx for it.

That is looking sharp!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Wow great progress Mike. I have the original AM TBF-1C Atlantic boxing. Great kit - did one ages ago. Getting the turret in is the only thing I thought was a challenger but if you google it there's tips and video.
Thanks,
John

Never thought about looking up a video on that. Thanks for the tip.

I have a Wildcat, Hellcat, and a Devastator. The Dauntless may not make it. It's a really bad kit, at least for me. I've already built the Revell Dauntless.

Great looking Avenger! I've built one and a handful of the SBDs...loved them all. Building the kit doesn't give you a sense of how big these things actually are, but when I saw one at an airshow years back, I was taken aback by its size...

That's a really nice Dauntless build, Mike! :shoutout: :shoutout: :shoutout: :shoutout:

I have 2 Dauntless kits - Academy and Accurate Miniatures and the Avenger kit in my stash. I believe my Avenger is the Academy Battle of Leyete boxing.

If you ever get a chance to build a Helldiver, get the Revell ProModeller boxing. Comes with PE dive flaps option. I really enjoyed the Helldiver kit.

I need to add the Vindictator, Devastator, and another Wildcat & Hellcat to my stash.
