1/72 scale Super Mystere

Post by BlackSheep214 »

Here’s an oldie kit… vintage 1976. Dassault Super Mystere

I’m surprised no other manufacturer has released this kit as of late. Reminds me a little of the F-100 Super Sabre

I remember that kit! I wish that there was a nice mainstream kit in 1/48 :hmm: I’d have to do an IAF Super Mystere. It is a contemporary of the F-100, although not quite as hot of a fighter as the Hun. Funny thing is that the French used both types. :giggles:

That's a nice looking aircraft. I've not built that but I did build a Matchbox 1/72 Mystere.

A nice kit actually, I built it as a what if for my son to play with by I'd build another.

Thats the reboxed Airfix kit, isn't it. I remember I did the Airfix boxing quite a while ago.

Is it? I remember Airfix and Matchbox being competitors back then and both producing kits of the same subject at the same time. Matchbox kits would usually have deep trench panel lines and be molded in different colors depending upon the sprue, while Airfix kits had raised rivets & panel lines, molded in a single color, etc.

Yes, I'm pretty sure. Airfix was the only Super Mystere in 1/72 for decades. Matchbox did a Mystere IV A but never a Super Mystere. Heller did a Super Mystere in 1/100 and Fonderie did one in 1/48. Those were the choices until AZ, Azur and Special Hobby came out with new ones in 1/72 and 1/48. MPC, at least in my head, was known to reissue a lot of Airfix planes.
