Thank you, Lyle, Tom and Carlos! I actually did a tear down of my white glued fuselage and washed everything with soap and water. That’s when I noticed I have build ups of Milliput exactly the way plaque forms on teeth but on the wing roots. I had to bring out the dental tools and give the joins a proper scraping.

I’ve been thinking about the fasteners for the cover plates. I’m going to test out drilling holes in scrap styrene then using mechanical pencil lead as bolts. Then I can use some of the cornucopia of sandpaper to shape the bolt heads. I was also thinking about straight wire too, but graphite is interesting as an alternative.

Yes, this has taken or will be taking a long time and perhaps it is the journey that matters most. I know for me that the subject of WWI kits remains a strong fascination and indeed it was a stick and tissue Sopwith Camel that was my first ever model. My first ever styrene plastic kit was a dinosaur.

Something about growing up in Pittsburgh has always stayed with me—kindness to others; I’m absolutely certain that I have stayed in this forum because that’s an unspoken rule here. Respect, kindness and encouragement are all important here.

Hi Joe! I’m working on the cockpit module, which I designed to fit within the existing inner fuselage. I’m currently designing the instrument panel to fit the upper cowling and the photo-etched/styrene Vickers machine guns. I’m using a combination of nickel-plated PE and standard PE from vintage Copper State Models and Tom’s Modelworks that were designed in 1/28 scale for the other airframe that Revell released alongside the Camel.

I’m in the mock up stage for this portion of the project.
