I maybe going mad here - but I had a conversation on line with someone who suggested an additive I can add to my citadel washes to remove the gloss shine. It wasn't any of you lot was it?
I've got a feeling it might have been Bruce, but I might be confusing it with a link he sent me for Starwars paint...

Bruce what is that chart? I use the Vallejo Glaze Medium and all it does is dilute the opacity of the paint and give more working time. If the paint is already gloss or flat, it does not change that aspect.

Thanks for the link Bruce - I had a look around and whilst there're some good suggestions - it's not what I had in mind...
Still trying to remember where I had the conversation... perhaps in was in a random wargaming blog post. I had thought I'd favourited the product I wanted but alas not.

Methinks you need a varnish or pair matt varnish with gloss first followed by matt second as varnishes can be delicate.
