The Children of Doom

Or, The Shelf of Doom. Since most of us intend to finish these someday....well, you know.

Superb fix on those decals - they came out really well.

Thanks Stuart. The fix turned out well enough.

Well the past few days were the final push… since the pilot reminded me of Adolf Galland, I made a cigar from stretched Sprue and added that in the corner of his mouth. The only change I made to the kit aside from hollowing out the exhaust pipes and cannon bores

Then he was glued in place…

Then I glued the canopy in place… the rubber band kept it in place while the glue set

and then I added all the last bits…

All finished now!!! I’ll get some multi view photos up in the finished section tomorrow ;)

LOL! That looks excellent Carlos and I'll look forward to seeing the final pics. Adding that Cigar was a great idea.

Well done. Very well done! The stogie is a perfect addition.

My latest resurrection project from the Shelf of Doom… I started this for a So.Cal AMPS Panzer IV GB about 10 years ago

Image

I was going to replace the kit tracks with some AM tracks and eventually settled on some Modelkasten indy links

Image

Since I wanted to do a DAK Panzer I decided to replace the crew figures with a set from Verlinden and the kit decals are replaced by a set from Bison

Image

Image

I got most of the basic assembly finished, but then hit a snag when I tried to fit the AM tracks to the kit sprockets. The sprockets were too wide as engineered. So I put it onto the shelf of doom after getting this much completed

So yesterday I decided to pull this one off the shelf and tackled the reason for the stop first. I cut the sprockets in half, sanded away some of the middle section until they would fit the MK tracks, then glued them back together.

Image

Then a test fit onto the lower hull

Image

This won’t be my main project, but I will be chipping away at it for the next while until it is finished.

Good to see another shelf Queen on the go Carlos. Interesting what you say about the drive Sprockets, I had a similar issue on my Chieftain when trying to fit AM tracks. The teeth were far too large. I actually wonder if that was intended by Tamiya, in order to beef it up for motorisation.
