Great idea, Carlos—and that’s exactly what I’m going to try. Counting the ribs, I see 18-19 in the photo. I looked online and the other walkarounds aren’t clear. As I keep looking for good interior reference I did see this 1/72 version by Taranaga (?) I’m not sure of the spelling which features 20-21 ribs.

Monday is a major deadline for me, so I get to labor on this weekend. That’s just how it is, friends. I have been working on the gun shields with thin coats of CA. I’d like to get those done. I’m seeing decent results.

The end of Chapter 2

Gun shields. I've gone ahead and hand-carved the existing stumps or blocks provided by Matchbox and I've come up with this. I've also added interior collars of 0.7mm brass tubing to each gun port to keep the openings all the same size, which is of vital importance when you're shaping by eye.





Thanks to all of you who have followed me so far; I know it's not a quick route that I'm taking, but I do find myself quite happy with what I have done so far. To all of the USA model builders, I wish you a great Labor Day weekend.

No thank you. In a very real way, I am inspired by seeing the work being done by you and others here who are sharing their thoughts and ideas. Yes, adding pitot and gun barrels is common in advanced modeling, but it was seeing the way you modified the tubing that influenced me. I wouldn’t have done it if I hadn’t seen your work.

I need help from those who understand jet engines. I assume that I may need to add a bit of an interior tube leading to the turbojet fan… yay or nay? (Part 22 on the Tarangus instruction page).

You could but would you have the room in the fuselage do add it? I wouldn't really worry about personally.

No, ducting leading to the fans is usually clean of such plumbing. At most there might be some vanes or spikes in there regarding airflow. But usually on most jets, the intake ducts are quite smooth and bare.

And to follow up… I found this shot looking down the intake to the compressor fan face… no plumbing



That’s a typical jet intake.
