Star Trek AMT 1/650 U.S.S. Enterprise (NCC-1701).

This was another project knocked out during the Covid lockdown/pandemic.

For me, there’s nothing like building this classic chestnut of a kit.

You can build it box stock.

You can add bells and whistles.

And, there is always something to learn.

Wow Bruce, that is impressive. You should apply for a job at ILM :shoutout: :shoutout: :shoutout:
Just need to photograph it against a star field!

Thank you, Chris. Sincerely. I’ve come close a few times and each time I kick myself for not going all the way and work for a shop. Here I’ve composited my model (top image) into a still based on an episode, adding grain and knocking the color balance towards blue as indicated by the original design; I’ve included the actual still for comparison.

Beautiful work Bruce!!! :shoutout: :shoutout: :shoutout:

You showed here what can be done with such a basic old kit.

Thank you, Gary, Mike and Carlos! I hopefully have become a bit better thanks to following your work and seeing what you and others are doing. This is the way!

For context, I built the same kit prior to joining the forum. I used scotch clear tape to mask the panel details on the nacelles because I didn’t know any better.

One of my first lessons came from Carlos about using Tamiya tape. So, yeah. I know. You start somewhere.

Come a ways since then. More to go.
