LRP ...Long Range Patrol... almost the same as LRRP or Lurp... Long Reconaissance Patrol... started during the Vietnam war

Yes LRRPs, or “Lurps” by nickname… although we were the last iteration, Long Range Surveillance. Detachments were division level assets, while Companies were assigned at Corps level. Same concept aside from LRS units were not tasked with direct action things such as prisoner snatches… officially Reconnaissance & Surveillance, Target Acquisition, Battle Damage Assessment, and Combat Search and Rescue were our four primary roles, to be carried out up 100 km ahead of the Forward Line of Troops was the LRSD role. 100km to 150km deep was for Corps level LRSC. Beyond that was supposed to go to SF Strategic Reconnaissance ODAs. Actually the LRP origins pre date Vietnam war by a few years, with the original LRP units being stood up in West Germany during the Cold War around the early 60’s. Each Corps had a LRP company assigned. And yup, that’s me telling the photographer that he’s number one in my book

Thanks Stuart! C-141 blasts just felt different than C-130 blasts. Theoretically they were doing the same airspeed when you jumped, 135 knots. But the noise of the jet was different than the turboprop. And lots of guys like to say you would get sucked out the door. Funny that you mention Pathfinders. Only Airborne and Air Assault large element units have assigned Pathfinders units. But most airborne units have Pathfinder school graduates to run Drop Zones. Being in Communications (Commo), I was frequently assigned to do the commo side of our DZ Pathfinder party over the years and learned and performed many Pathfinder tasks under their supervision. That was one school that I would love to have attended and badge I would love to have officially earned.

I wondered why you chose a Belgian version, too. Right now we have a mini-mixer of several Belgian builds between you and Blacksheep, which is great to see here.

Great photos and history by you and Carlos, too. Jumping out of an aircraft is rather intimidating!

Back to the model, what are you using to glue down your plastic card? I’ve had troubles in the past with this. I read somewhere that any conventional plastic solvent does the trick. Since you’re doing quite a bit, I thought I’d ask!

Why Belgian Air Force you ask..well..it’s because I live in Belgium and A400M are BAF workhorse air transport A/C

I use Tamiya extra thin glue..perfect for that...but be careful use it with caution and sparingly
