I normally never win at raffles until one year in San Antonio and I won a bunch of models. A majority of them were Gundam too!

Syrcon raffles off mostly military kits, maybe a Tamiya racer, and an occasional Gundam kit or two. Most are donated by vendors - new or old kits.

I haven't won raffle prizes in 2 years now.

Ha! Did that kit as a young teen. What bear that one was. I use to watch that series faithfully every Monday night. I even bought the DVD set a few years ago. :giggles:

Great actor, too! And of course you’ve built the kit. Ah, well. That’s one I always wanted to try.

It’s the same 1/32 F4U kit that Revell has issued since Christ was a Corporal, originally released in Ira Kepford’s VF-17 markings. I believe that Revell Germany had a fairly recent issue of the kit.

Although Baa Baa BlackSheep was loosely based on the original Pappy Boyington “claims”.

That’s putting it mildly. After the series came out, of course some publishing house republished Baa Baa Blacksheep. Aside from a couple of incidents depicted in the two hour pilot episode, none of the other stuff in his book is in there. It’s kinda like comparing the movie Pearl Harbor to the works of Walter Lord or Gordon Prange…
Mind you I loved the show as a kid… but now I have a hard time watching it… I can see Blacksheep being done properly as a great miniseries on HBO or Apple though.

I read his book too. It was a fun show to watch as kids. We didn’t care about accuracy but we loved the action in the show.

100% in agreement with someone should do a mini series on the Black Sheep Squadron in proper form and historically correct.
