1/72 AZ Models 109's (another batch finished)

Just wrapped up another one of these kits (#4).

Marked as Stab I./JG27, Austria 1944, flown by Gruppencommander Ludwig Franzisket.
Used some PE from Brengun, for the pit. Loop antenna is fine copper wire, other antenna wire is the usual stretched sprue.

Only 1 WIP shot...cuz there's already a WIP on the AZ kits...














There will be a couple few more of these, here and there. I took a batch with me to work on while I was working at the airport a few days ago. Did as much as I could with only a knife, glue, and some sand paper...got a good head start on em!

Nice looking build there. How do you rate those AZ kits. They have quite a selection of 109's and I have been eyeing some up, but no idea what the kits are like.

They're not great, but pretty decent. A bit fiddly in spots (but, this is 1/72 after all!).
The only real issues...you have to trim down the rear radiator parts (noted in inst), or the top wing half won't fit right...and the pit is a bit too wide at front and rear bulkheads...gotta trim those down.
Control surfaces (except rudder, molded seperate) are molded in neutral position...I removed them and repositioned mine. Canopy is a one piece deal, I smashmolded a new center section, and cut off the front and back pieces from the kit part.

I really dig the marking options they have come up with...tons of good stuff...and the have really good decals too!
Each kit comes with 3-4 options, they also offer a "JoyPack" of 3 kits, no decals. The only issue with going that route though, is that you only have one set of stencil/data markings...a healthy decal spares stock will come in handy!

I can say that I'd recommend these kits!

Thanks. they have some nice G variants that's other don't do and that's what drew me. From the sound of it, its at least worth getting one to see for myself. I rather fancy a G-8 and G-2.

The kit has parts for low G's on up through the high G's(including the straight rudder)...so even the "JoyPack" will cover every version as well. However, they only include the Erla canopy if there's marking option for a plane requiring that.

I've just got to imagine how "tiny" a 72nd Bf 109 is.
Accordngly, the additional detailing and the excellent paint job make it even more impressive.

So keep 'em coming!

I love that BIG box of 109s and wish I knew why there are two different colors of plastic in it...
