Looks great Kermit. The camo is really cool on the eggplane...maybe even more so that the real thing. Nice litte decompression build it seems.


Yeah...Silly Putty...in good faith...I always have to share my experience with it melting into my paint scheme and ruining my model. I know people use it..but it only takes once...of course there were probably some environmental elements that precipitated things....Poster putty is much easier to work with too. Silly Putty is a PITA to keep in shape and it will leave a residue.

Ah - ok - So ditch the silly putty and break out the bluetak it is then!

That's my $0.02...even ignoring the possibilities of reactions...gravity isn't kind to silly putty...you put it on and it moves all over the place...it will drive you mad.

Well don't leave it on the model all day...

But how did your melt??? What kind of paint did you use?

It wasn't on all day. Tamiya paint.

Acrylic? Enamel? Lacquer?

It was their acrylic lacquer...their enamel isn't available in the US...as far as I know.

Doesn't matter though...I was actually lying...made the whole thing up. I just inherited a huge amount of shares in poster putty...so I don't want people to use Silly Putty..so my stock value goes up...clearly I have some sort of motive to lie about my experience with Silly Putty...not like I might be trying to help someone.

I'm just trying to make sure I don't end up with a goopy mess either. If there was some sort of chemical reaction, I need to double check which paints I'm using.

I do know there are putty's (or is it putties?...) outthere that contain solvents in order to keep it plyable. Maybe you had one of those? Then again, the putty i used to use back home in the netherlands did like leaving this oily residue from time to time. Never figured out what it was...
