it was designed by a german, ordered by the brits, and built by the yanks. :lashed:

the chief designer at NAA had already drawn up the basics of the design, and tweaked it to match British stipulations

Very nice - I remember reading a book on how the Royal Navy were planning on shooting these down using F-4's with no guns over Belize (I think Rocket pods were the answer) - and then the GR.3s arrived.

Harrier GR.3 vs. F-51D - now that would be an interesting dogfight...
