Dassault Mirage 2000C, 1/48 Monogram

Post by Stikpusher »

Continuing with the Mirage theme here- Monogram's 1980's vintage Mirage 2000C kit (with Exocet Missiles issue). I rescribed this kit, one of the first times doing that. Not a fun experience :? I added a resin in flight refueling probe from a French aftermarket company, Rennesance (same folks as who did the bang seat for my Mirage IIIEA), who appear to specialize in AM for French subjects (go figure ;) ). I built it as per the instruction sheet, even adding the "H" harness for the ejection seat that you have to cut out from the instruction sheet. Paints are Xtracolour brand enamels and decals from Carpena. Tis was also one of my first uses of Promodeler (now Flory's) wash. Aside from the rescribing, a very enjoyable modeling experience

That is just a "pretty" aircraft. Subtle camo, a touch of Martha Stewart color coordination...a clean build.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Thank you gentlemen. I'm afraid that is the last of my built Mirages for now... ;)

Very nice looking Mirage sir - the paint looks spot-on as well. All these Mirages are making me want to add another to the lineup soon.

I have a RoG Mirage 2000 in the stash (courtesy of a certain Undead Field Marshall), and a High Planes Nesher as well. I'd love to pick up a Mirage IV at some point as well, just haven't spotted a good deal on one yet. Someday... (maybe somebody will tool a NEW one??? )

I wonder who makes that RoG Mirage 2000? Is it this kit, or the Airfix/Heller mold? Or possibly even the Esci? I presume that you are keeping in touch with that ghost of Feld Marschalls past and that he is well? In my stash I have Eduard & Hobbyboss' Mirage IIICJs, A couple of Heller IIIC/Bs, an Airfix 2000B that I plan to convert to a 2000D, a Heller Mirage IV, and a couple of F-1Cs. Yeah, Ilike Mirages ;)

lol, I still have connections via the Enigma system ;) Herr Manny is ... still in a state of un-dead-ednes.

According to my 5-second research on Scalemates' website, the 1/72 RoG Mirage 2000C kit that I have in the stash began life as an Italeri tooling in 1992. Have you laid hands on any of the High Planes kits? Good looking stuff.
